Understanding the Toolbar

The toolbar contains button that allow you to carry out most of the functions required by the Permits program. To perform a function, click the desired button or press the associated function key on your keyboard.

The toolbar buttons, corresponding keys, and related tasks are listed below:

Press This Button ...Or This Function Key ...To Do This...
F10 Saves entered information. You must save the changes each time you enter or change any data.
Shift+F8 Prints the information currently showing on the screen.
Ctrl+Q Exits the window or program.  The current query (search) must be completed or canceled and any changes saved before exiting.
Ctrl+X Cuts the selected text or image.
Ctrl+C Copies the selected text or image.
Ctrl+V Pastes (inserts) the selected text or image.
F7 Enter Query (for more information see How to Do a Search).
F8 Execute Query .(for more information see How to Do a Search).
Ctrl+Q Cancel Query.
Shift+Up Previous record (screen of information).
Shift+Down Next record (screen of information).
F6 Inserts a new, blank record into which information can be entered.
Shift+F6 Deletes the current record. Click this only if you are absolutely sure you want to delete the record. There is no reverse action to restore the record once deleted.  ACT normally does not allow deletes.
F5 Protects the current record from being changed or deleted in error.
